CHIEF NURSE

COL Marquez was commissioned as an Army Nurse Officer in 1983. He received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Marty College, Yankton, South Dakota in 1976; and his Master of Science in Nursing from University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso, TX in 1997.  COL Marquez’s professional experiences has been varied since joining the Army, ranging from medical-surgical nursing to critical care/trauma intensive care to his experience and training as an adult health nurse practitioner.  COL Marquez has held various military assignments to include Chief of Hospital Education at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, Chief of Department of Nursing, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, TX; Chief of Department of Training Support at FT Sam Houston, TX, Senior Observer Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center and Ft Polk, LA as well many others.  COL Marquez has been deployed four times to include tours in Haiti, Kosovo, Iraq and most recently Afghanistan in support of OEF.  COL Marquez’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with 4 oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (with 2 oak leaf cluster), and the O2M3 award.  COL Marquez is married and has five children and eight grandchildren.
