The proud lineage and honors of 1st Combat Support Brigade, Maneuver Enhancement (Provisional) was constituted in July of 1962 as Headquarters, Special Troops at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
The unit was re-designated 1 July of 1970 to Headquarters Command, Fort Polk, Louisiana.
In March 1982, the unit was granted the approval to use the name “Devil Troop Brigade” aligning the Brigade’s support mission to the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized). Major subordinate commands of the Devil Troop Brigade included the 588th Engineer Battalion and assigned units; 15th Evacuation Hospital and assigned units; Provisional Battalion and assigned units; 5th Personnel Service Company; 36th Medical Detachment; and 5th ID Noncommissioned Officer Academy.
On 3 December 2001, the unit was granted approval to use the name “HHC (P), Warrior Brigade” aligning the HHC (P), Warrior Brigade to support the Warrior Brigade and the Joint Readiness Training Center.
On 1 June 2006, Warrior Brigade was granted approval to use the name “1st Combat Support Brigade Maneuver Enhancement (Provisional)” aligning the brigade to support the activation of the 1st Combat Support Brigade (Maneuver Enhancement).
Major subordinate commands of the brigade are the 46th Engineer Battalion and assigned units; 519th Military Police Battalion and assigned units; 83rd Chemical Battalion and assigned units; 142nd Combat Service Support Battalion and assigned units; and 88th Brigade Support Battalion and assigned units.
The brigade’s mission is to support Brigade Headquarters as it organizes, trains, equips, and deploys combat-ready units to conduct full spectrum operations. On order, the 1st CSB (ME) deploys and provides mobility and protection to the supported force to enable freedom of action.
