LTC Christopher Klein

LTC Christopher Klein commissioned in the US Army Corps of Engineers in May of 1999.  Following the Engineer Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to the 14th Engineer Battalion (Corps)(Wheeled) in Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a Platoon Leader in C Company, Executive Officer for A Company, Assistant S3, and Battalion S4.  As the Battalion S4, he deployed to Iraq in 2003 as part of the Global War on Terror.  From 2004 – 2005, LTC Klein served in Korea as the S3 Plans Officer for the Engineer Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, then as the 2nd Infantry Division Engineer Plans Officer.  From 2005 – 2011, he served at Fort Richardson, Alaska, as the S1 / Detachment Commander for the US Army Alaska Special Troops Battalion, Detachment Commander for the US Army Alaska Headquarters, and Company Commander for C Company, 864th Engineer Battalion.  LTC Klein deployed with C Company, 864th Engineer Battalion, to Iraq from 2007 to 2008.  Following Company Command, he served as the S3 for the 6th Engineer Battalion and S3 Plans Officer for the 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.  From 2012 – 2013, he served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Chief, Office of Security Cooperation – Iraq, at the US Embassy in Baghdad.  From 2013 – 2016, LTC Klein served as the Deputy Commander for the US Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District in Winchester, VA.

LTC Klein graduated from United States Military Academy with a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering, and the University of Missouri with a master’s of science in geological engineering. His military training includes the US Navy Submarine SCUBA diver course, Engineer Officer Basic Course, Sapper Leader Course, the Engineer Captains Career Course, the United States Army Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Cold Weather Leader’s Course – Northern Warfare Training Center, the Joint Engineer Operations Course, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College.  He is a registered Project Management Professional.

His military awards and decorations include two awards of the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two awards of the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, two awards of the Army Commendation Medal, three awards of the Army Achievement, the Combat Action Badge, the SCUBA diver badge, and the Sapper Tab.
