ACAP can assist in the full spectrum of transition planning: Job and Skills Analysis, Resume Writing, Interviewing, VA Benefits, Disability Compensation and Programs, Service Provider Referrals, Individualized Assistance. ACAP Pre-Separation Briefings

The Pre-separation Brief should be completed no later than 90 days prior to your separation date. Soldiers are eligible to attend this brief 1 year from an ETS date of 2 years from a retirement date. Soldiers who are separating under a Chapter or Medical Board should attend this brief as soon as the Medical Board process begins or after the Chapter is initiated. Soldiers may log on to https://www.acapexpress.army.mil or call or stop by the center to register and schedule an appointment to attend the Pre-separation Brief. An appointment is necessary as seats are limited.

Fort Polk Military Taxi

Fort Polk provides a "military taxi" service which, at your request, will transport you to/from places of official business only (not the PX, Commissary, etc.). Their number is (337) 531-4982. There is also a Fort Polk shuttle bus service which provides transportation to a wide variety of non-official destinations. Their schedule is posted at the Consolidated In/ Out-Processing, the Welch Magnolia Guest House and other locations.

Transition Assistance Program Workshop

The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) workshop is a two and a half day seminar to help prepare you for the civilian job market. The TAP workshop will teach you how to best market your skills, draft a resume, and learn how to salary negotiate. Additionally you will practice your interview skills. Topics covered are: setting job objectives, job search, networking resumes, cover letters, interviewing, evaluating job offers and negotiating salaries. Clients are introduced to the realistic challenges facing them and are taught how to meet those challenges. The Unit Service Coordinator (USC) serves as a link between Army Community Service (ACS) and the Unit, Soldiers and Families. The USC provides subject matter "expertise" on Family support issues and services. They increase Unit awareness of services and facilitates contact with ACS staff in order to provide greater access to programs.
