WELCOME!

Welcome to United States Army Garrison Fort Polk – Home of Heroes!  We’re located in beautiful west-central Louisiana, and are also the home of the premier joint training facility - Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC).  Our mission is to provide installation support for power projection, combat readiness and mission execution for all tenant units as well as JRTC rotational units; provide quality services and facilities, all the while optimizing our resources, sustaining our environment and enhancing the overall well-being of the Fort Polk community – the best “hometown” in the Army!

Fort Polk was established in 1941 as Camp Polk and named in honor of the Right Reverend Leonidas Polk, the first Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Louisiana and a Confederate General. Camp Polk was established after the 1940 Louisiana Maneuvers and used to train thousands of Soldiers for combat during World War II.  That mission – to provide realistic, relevant, and rigorous training to deploying units – still exists today.  In addition to training over half of the Brigade Combat Teams who have deployed to theater, we are host the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division; 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB); 115th Corps Support Hospital (CSH); as well as the 162nd Infantry Brigade, who train US forces to be Foreign Security Forces - Transition Team (FSF-TT) in theater.

Not only do we have state-of-the-art training facilities, we also continue to improve the quality of life at Fort Polk with a number of new construction projects, including new housing and community centers, a new family restaurant, improved child-care and MWR facilities, as well as new AAFES facilities.  This is not your daddy’s Fort Polk of which you may have heard, but is modern post, looking ahead to the future!  We are proud of the improvements that have been made and excited about the Fort Polk we envision.  We hope you take the time to visit us and make this your assignment of choice.

Again, welcome to Fort Polk the “Home of Heroes!”

All the Way!

Support and Defend!
