Joint Readiness Training Center, 3rd BN, 353rd Regiment - Regionally Aligned Forces (RAF)

Course Description:

3rd Battalion, 353rd Regiment, Operations Group, JRTC conducts the Regionally Aligned Forces (RAF) course for the Army in order to train individuals and leaders hands on skills they need to conduct regionally aligned mission sets in a Geographic COCOM.

Soldiers attending RAF will get detailed, small-group instruction on a wide range of topics in order to better prepare them for the mission. These include human behavior and rapport, use of interpreter, influencing and negotiations, cross culture communications, protecting the team, media engagements, embassy operations, security cooperation overview, training foreign forces, and regional/country overview training.

They also conduct engagements with cultural role players recruited from the same areas the Soldiers will be deploying to, giving them a chance to practice their skills in a realistic environment.

In addition, they are provided an in-depth familiarization of the history, culture, and environment of the area to which they are deploying. The course culminates with an exercise involving the training of a host nation force, putting their newly acquired skills to the test.

RAF is a 5 day course of Instruction with classes being conducted Monday-Friday. The course size is up to 40 students per class. Students are billeted at North Fort Polk, with a mess facility, MWR facility, gym and shoppette available for student use.
