Family Advocacy Program

 

FAP provides information and education designed to support strong, self-reliant families and to enhance coping skills.  FAP offers a variety of classes to meet the needs of the entire family (all classes and child care are free).

ANGER MANAGEMENT is a lunch hour workshop designed to define anger, its causes, and effects.  You will learn to identify responses to angry feelings, warning signs and triggers, and develop an anger management plan. One on one classes are available. 531-0636/1938

ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADHD). This is a one session program designed for parents and children with ADHD to help them recognize and understand the diagnosis.

CHILDREN COPE WITH DIVORCE. A seminar in which separating and/or divorcing parents learn more about the effects of divorce on children.   531-1938/1940

Date Night.  A night set aside to give the married couple a special opportunity to go out and enjoy each other's company.  Couples will be able to drop off their kids, meet with an instructor for 15 minutes prior to leaving, pick up their discussion topic, leave and go to a place of their choice to spend their special night out, and then return 15 minutes prior to closing to conclude the nights event.  Pre-requisite - one or both of the parents must have attended or is currently participating in one of the classes offered.  531-1938

FAMILY WELLNESS.  A parenting program that brings both the parents and children (ages 7 - 18) together in a class.  Families are taught pratical skills based on proven principles that strengthen, support and empower families.  531-1938

INFANT MASSAGE is an opportunity for parents to learn the age old art  of infant massage techniques used to aid in relaxation, bonding and growth for infants ages 5 weeks to 12 months.  Class size is limited to six babies and their parents/caregivers.  531-7065/4170

NEW PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM. A program staffed with social workers that provides home visits, support groups and parenting classes for new parents with children under age six.

Parenting WITH HALF THE TEAM  is a support group set up to exchange ideas and lend support through the struggles of single parenting due to spouse deployment, separation, or divorce.

PARENTING WITH LOVE-N-LOGIC. A six week program, which offers, parents the skills and knowledge for effective parenting of children, birth to six yrs.  Class includes parent/child interactive activities.  An on site class for children meets in conjunction with parent groups.  531-4170

PLAY MORNING. is a 2-hour program in which parents and children play together in a group setting.  Activities include:  story time, crafts, music and more.  The FAP Staff is available for questions regarding your child's development.  531-7065

PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP SKILLS (PAIRS). Pairs is an intensive 4 week program for couples. Topics and techniques taught include communication skills, self-esteem, dealing with conflict and nurturing the couple bond.  531-1938

PREVENTION AND RELATIONSHIP ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (PREP). PREP is a four week class for couples who are interested in learning communication and conflict resolution skills.   531-1938/4926

SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE AND PREVENTION PROGRAM (SARP)...The SARP provides 24/7 advocacy services to victims of sexual assault to help maximize their safety, ensure their rights as victims of a crime are observed and that they have the support needed to navigate legal and community systems.  The SARP also provides community and troop sexual assault prevention and awareness education. 531-1848

SPECIALIZED CLASSES UPON REQUEST.  Possible topics: Family Violence, Stress Management, Holiday Stress, Coping with Deployment & Reunion, Marriage Retreats, How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex, DATE Rape, Men Are From Mars, Communication, Crisis Intervention, etc.   531-1938

STRESS MANAGEMENT is a lunch hour workshop designed to help understand what stress is, its symptoms, and its causes.  Examine ways to reduce stress, and learn valuable tips on time management, lifestyle changes, relaxation techniques, diet and exercise. One on one classes are also available. 531-0636/1938

TRANSITIONAL COMPENSATION. A congressionally mandated program, which authorizes temporary financial support and other benefits for family members who, are victims of child or spouse abuse and whose spouse is being administratively discharged or court-martialed for the individuals abuse offense.   531-4858/1938

VICTIM ADVOCAte Program.  Provides services to victims of domestic violence, to include command and law enforcement support: Crisis Intervention, Options Counseling, Safety Planning, Legal Advocacy, Emergency Transportation and Relocation Assistance.   531-6333/2983
