CSM David R. Pitt

CSM David Pitt was born in London England. He began his distinguished service to the nation when he joined the United States Army on 12 October 1992 and attended OSIT Infantry and Airborne school at Ft Benning, GA.

His first assignment was with 3d platoon, Alpha Company, 2/505, 3BCT, 82d Airborne Division. He attended Scout selection and was assigned to HHC, 2/505 PIR, where he served as an RTO and Senior Scout Observer. While assigned to the Scout Platoon, he deployed to Panama in support of Operation Safe Haven. He then graduated from the US Army Ranger school and earning his Expert Infantry badge and attended Jumpmaster school earning his senior parachutes wings. While serving as a RTO, he completed 3 rotations at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft Polk LA. After graduating from BNOC at Ft Benning GA, he was selected to be the XVIII Airborne Corps Commander’s driver and was assigned to HHC, 18th Airborne Corps. In 1999, he was selected for Drill Sergeant duty at Ft Jackson SC and was assigned to Delta Company 2/60 IN, Ft Jackson. While on the trail, he was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. After the trail, he volunteered for assignment to Korea where he served as a Long Range Surveillance team Leader and Surveillance Platoon Sergeant, also attended the Recon Surveillance Leaders course and Air Assault course. After completion of ANOC at Ft Benning GA. He later returned to 3BCT, Ft Bragg, as a Platoon Sergeant in Bravo Company, 2/505 PIR. As a Platoon Sergeant, he deployed his platoon to FOB Kalsu in support OIF-4. Upon return from Iraq, he was assigned to Delta Company, 2/505 PIR where he served as a Anti Armor Platoon Sergeant and attended the Anti Armor Leaders course at Ft Benning, GA, and earned his master parachutes badge. In 2005, he was assigned as the Platoon Sergeant for Scout Platoon HHC, 1/505 PIR. In 2006, he again deployed to FOB Spikier Iraq in support of OIF 6 as the PSD Platoon Sergeant for the Brigade Commander. While in Iraq, he was promoted to Master Sergeant and immediately assumed the position of First Sergeant for Alpha Company, 1/505. In 2007, he served as 1SG for HHC, BSTB. Upon taking the Company, he immediately deployed the company to Iraq in support of OIF 7. In 2010, he departed Ft Bragg and was assigned to the Florida Agricultural Mechanical University ROTC program, there he served as the Senior Military Instructor. In that same year, he was selected by the Army to attend the United States Sergeants Major Academy. While at USAMA, he was CSL selected as a Command Sergeant Major and assigned to his previous position as Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 1-335 Infantry Regiment, 205th IN BDE, Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

CSM Pitt’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer education system, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Ranger Course, Jump Master Course, Air Assault School, Drill Sergeant School, Master Fitness Course and Long Range Surveillance Course. He is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice (Homeland Security) from Excelsior University.

CSM Pitt’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters; Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster; Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters; Good conduct Medal (6th award); Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters; Global war on terrorism Expedition Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 4); the Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Presidential Unit Citation; Joint Meritorious Service Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Expert Infantryman Badge; Ranger Tab; Master Parachutist badge; Drill Sergeant Badge.
