Hunting on Fort Polk and Peason Ridge is open to all licensed hunters. Any licensed hunter may obtain a Fort Polk hunting permit during duty hours by visiting the Game Enforcement Office, Building 8590, North Fort Polk. Call (337) 531-5715 or 531-5222. Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Mon-Fri / Sat, Sun and Holidays are from 8:00 a.m. - Noon.

Feral Hogs may be legally harvested with bow during archery season through 1 January 2011. |
Feral Hogs may be taken with legal firearms and ammunition appropriate to current season in progress from In addition, hunters may hunt feral hogs with shotguns loaded with buckshot or slugs from 2 January 2011 through 28 February 2011. Hunters must display 400 square inches of "hunter orange" and wear a "hunter orange" cap during special shotgun season for feral hogs. |
On Wildlife Management Areas, the daily limit for deer shall be one antlered deer and one antleress deer (when legal). Season limit for deer is three antlered and three antlerless deer (all segments included) by all methods of take. All deer hunters, regardless of age or license status must obtain deer tags and have in possession when hunting deer. Deer must be tagged immediately upon kill. Within 72 hours, the hunter must validate the kill and record the validation number on the license. NOTE: Due to restricted areas, use of tracking dogs for recovering wounded animals (deer/hog) is prohibited on Fort Polk and Peason Ridge Wildlife Management Areas. |
| PRIMITIVE FIREARMS SEGMENT: (Special license and primitive firearms specifications apply only to the special state, WMA, national forest and preserves and federal refuge seasons). A primitive firearms license is required for resident hunters between the ages of 16 and 59 inclusive and non-resident 16 years of age and older. |
| Legal Primitive Firearms for Special Primitive Firearms Season include: |
| 1.) Muzzle loaders, .44 caliber minimum, shotguns 10 gauge or smaller, all of which must load exclusively from the muzzle or cap and ball cylinder, use black powder or approved substitute only, take ball or bullet projectile only, including saboted bullets, including muzzle loaders known as "in line" muzzle loaders. |
| 2.) Single shot, breech loading rifles, .38 caliber or larger of a kind or type manufactured prior to 1900 and replicas, reproductions or reintroduction's of that type rifle having an exposed hammer that use metallic cartridges loaded either with black powder or modern smokeless powder. All of the above may be fitted with magnified scopes. |
| 3.) Bow and Arrow Regulations: Longbow, compound bow and crossbow or any bow drawn, held or released by mechanical means will be legal means of take for all properly licensed hunters. |
| HUNTER ORANGE: Any person hunting any wildlife during the open gun deer season shall display on his head, chest and/or back a total of not less than 400 square inches of "HUNTER ORANGE" to include a "hunter orange" cap. |
