Birth - 1 year or weighing less than 20 lbs: Rear-facing child safety seat. 1 year - $ years or weighing less than 40 lbs: Forward-facing child safety seat. 4 years - 6 years or weighing less than 60 lbs: Child booster seat. |

1. If number of children under 13 exceed
number of child safety restraint systems and safety belts, unrestrained
children are put in the rear seat. 2. The term "motor vehicle" as used in this section, shall not mean the following: bicycle, farm tractor, motorcycle, or motor driven cycle, truck of manufacture's rating carrying capacity of over 2000 pounds, ambulance or other emergency vehicle, school bus, as defined in R.S.32;1(62)(a) and (b), church bus, private bus, or recreational vehicle which has a passenger capacity over 10 persons, or commercial truck, van, or taxi. 3. Provisions of this section do not apply when a motor vehicle is being used as an ambulance or other emergency vehicle. |
